Coronation Street ITV 1

We were commissioned by ITV to create iconic new Titles and End of Parts for the worlds most famous soap. Combining a filmic sense of nostalgia and modernity they are at once fresh and yet instantly familiar. Designed and Directed in house at HGFilms, Produced by Matte Black and edited and graded at Space Digital.

We met at the BBC over 15 years ago after managing to attain Fine Art (Andy) and Graphic Design (JP) degrees. We immediately formed a strong friendship and between us have worked on a plethora of productions from Documentary, Dramas, Docu-dramas, Entertainment and Specialist Factual for a host of homegrown and international Broadcasters-with even the odd RTS and BAFTA award thrown in for good measure!

Having gathered an enormous amount of experience in Broadcast Design and Visual Effects supervision over the preceding years it was in 2010 that the opportunity arose and HGfilms was born.

Since then we have produced, amongst other productions, the new titles for Granada's iconic 'Coronation Street', all the VFX for ITV1's 'Joe Maddison's War', a raft of VFX shots for Red Production's 'Single Father' as well as completing documentaries for Nat Geo on climate change, historic meteorite strikes and space tourism, supplying photo real and science explainers for a long running Nat Geo series as well as a prestigious 3D stereoscopic feature for the Vindolanda Visitor Centre. We're now coming up to the end of our first year in business so we think we must be doing something right!

We have decades of experience in our field of work and because of our time spent in the industry we have an excellent understanding of how VFX/CGI are used within television and film production. We feel that we are the right size and have the right attitude to approach new productions in a manner that suits today's market. We want to be a creative partner within your production, working intimately with you and your team to facilitate outstanding creative solutions whilst maximising your budget.
